Are inside bets better than outside bets for winning at roulette?

Q) Simon asks When playing roulette, is there any advantage in playing inside or outside bets?
A) The expected value of roulette is the same as if you play the inside or the outside.  The odds are the same. The only thing different is the distribution of wins. Playing on the inside, you will get bigger swings in your bankroll but in the long term, it will be the same.

The only difference is if you get a table with La Partage rule.  This gives half back on green (0), so it reduces the house edge to 1.35%.  Check out French roulette for this rule and some land casinos line the Grosvenor offer this too.
